The Challenge
Monsoon operates a high-throughput distribution centre where operational performance depends on workers having immediate access to mobile devices.
However, friction had crept into the way devices were managed. Each shift began with delays, queues, and uncertainty around who had which device. Lost and damaged units were only part of the issue; the bigger impact was the wasted time and reduced productivity this friction created across every shift.
As Monsoon prepared to roll out new Zebra TC devices, they were clear on two priorities: reduce loss and damage, and remove the inefficiency from shift-start device issuing. To achieve this, they needed a way to introduce clear user accountability while reducing day-to-day reliance on IT
The Solution
Working in close partnership with Monsoon, Waizu delivered a structured approach that de-risked deployment.
This included a thorough validation process to ensure security, compliance, and confidence ahead of go-live, alongside clear alignment with Monsoon’s innovation strategy to support continuous operational gains. Waizu also equipped on-site operations teams with the tools to manage devices proactively, significantly reducing day-to-day reliance on IT.
Manual check-in and handover processes were replaced with automated device issuing and user specific login tracking, introducing clear accountability for every device at every shift.
The Outcome
Since deploying Waizu: Monsoon has transformed device access and control at the start of every shift.
Device issuing is now instant, enabling operatives to begin productive work within seconds of clock-in rather than queuing or waiting for handover. By removing friction at shift start and ensuring devices are always available and ready for use, Monsoon has eliminated hundreds of hours of wasted time across the operation. Lost and damaged devices have reduced dramatically, and every device is now accounted for and operational ahead of each shift, giving operations teams confidence that performance at the edge will never be a constraint.
Monsoon’s first year with Waizu had such a positive impact on operational performance that a 5-year extension of the service has been agreed across the distribution centre.
